Building Blocks for 2014

If there is one toy that is universal to all cultures and to the development of all children it is ” BUILDING BLOCKS”. It does not matter whether they are beautifully carved and colored to precision in a factory or rough off-cuts from a carpentry shop, the development of the human brain through playing with these shapes goes through a massive learning process over time, which lay an important foundation for math’s learning amongst many other areas of development including  hand – eye coordination, crossing the midline (the foundation to reading) and so on. As parents, we want the best for our children and may read the latest trends, buy the latest toys, but when we look at the facts we come to some real basics on understanding child development and parenting skills needed for the holistic development of each child to reach their full potential.

BUILDING BLOCKS for 2014 is a series of coaching, workshops, talks and blog posts that will support and guide parents in their parenting.

As individuals we need to nurture our souls and QUIET DAYS will be offered as a full-day or half-day retreat with different themes.

Questions, questions, questions … As we mature we may become more curious about understanding ‘what makes me tick’ ? Why do we behave the way we do? Why does that person drive me crazy? The opportunity to complete the scientifically sound INTEGRATIVE ENNEAGRAM questionnaire is now available with a series of coaching sessions.

Integrative Enneagram offers a map to personal development from an open systems perspective. It therefore does not box people, but rather opens a pathway to self- discovery and greater personal awareness. It is much more than a personality profile that offers insight into core personality traits, as it also delves deeper into the core motivations, defence mechanisms and fears of the individual.

(From the Integrative Enneagram workbook by Lucille Greef and Dirk Cloete)

Discovering your Enneagram type helps you understand why you experience the world as you do, and how to overcome obstacles that seem to trip you up repeatedly; understanding your partner in the light of the Enneagram enables you to better understand each other , build on your couple strengths and create strategies to overcome your differences!

This process can also be used for building EFFECTIVE TEAMS in the work place.

About parentcoachsa

Steph has over 30 year's experience working with families to design child care solutions and supporting parents to be the best parents they can be. In addition she has worked with corporates to find work-life balance solutions for their staff. As a practitioner I have become increasingly aware that work-life balance has become a critical issue, particularly in an age in which the demands of work are often at odds with home and family life. I am passionate about family life, it is the catalyst for every other relationship we have - in every other area of life, we expect to study, get a qualification, try something on appro , we want to feel in control - however it is the one area of life, that none of the above applies - Babies do not arrive with a parenting manual! It is my privilege as a Parent and Life Coach, to partner with you as you take hold of the challenges you are facing in your family, in your life and work with you , supporting you to achieve the decisions and outcomes you are choosing for your family and for your life. It is my job, to keep you on track, to cheer you on, when the "going gets tough". Through coaching, understanding of yourself and your child, and his or her phase of development will enable you to consciously develop a parenting style that will benefit you and your family.
