Attachment Parenting is a buzz-word but do we really understand what it means – every website seems to come up with its own explanation. My own take on attachment parenting is that we need to pay attention to our infants in the early weeks and months. Our baby’s only language to speak to us with is crying – if we do not attend to our baby with each cry they quickly escalate from communicating a discomfort, pain or sense of loneliness to a point of abandonment.
This is not spoiling your baby, but attending to your baby. Meeting their needs at the most basic of seeing them, hearing them and understanding them – or at least striving to!
