Temper tantrums are the way our child tells us something is not okay. A toddler does not have enough vocabulary so they “act out” to give us the message. It is our job to interpret, which is not always so easy! It may also be his protest because we have removed something that was not safe for him to play with. Either way it is important that we translate his behaviour with words and empathy appropriate to the situation and then distract him and move on. We do not need to linger on the subject, once we have conveyed our understanding.
